Hong Kong: Got on the bike at 5:40am for some quick climbing to beat a rainstorm blowing in from the South China sea. The skies were grey and visibility low this morning as fog horns from passing ships punctuated the air. I lost the race, managing only one ascent of Mt Davis Path before having to return home.
It’s 19 days until I start pedaling from Astoria, Oregon. 2 weeks before I depart for the United States for TransAmerica 2010.
My pre-departure training goal is to clock 500 miles by June 15 and to get on the bike every day. I’ll settle for 400 miles. With Hong Kong’s inclement weather and a biz trip next week this is going to be a challenge. I’m slowly accepting the reality that I won’t be in top form at the start of the cycling trip. I’m very confident I can do this trip, just not so confident I will enjoy the first week or two. 🙂
